Ayurvedic Yoga Massage - Ayurvedic Massage ARYM®
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is a bodywork that combined traditional Indian deep tissue massage and Yoga-Based stretch therapy.
The technique of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage was originally developed in the early 80s by Master Kusum Modak from Pune, India. Kusum, a student of renowned yoga teacher BKS Iyengar, brought together her own experience in Hatha Yoga asanas with her personal knowledge on Ayurvedic massage, gained from experienced local Ayurvedic masseur Mr. Lamaye Maharaj.
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage is an original technique, involving alternation between oil-rubbing deep tissue massage and therapeutic yoga-based stretches, which takes the recipient on a unique journey.
Treatment lasts 60-90 minutes and involves the application of oil blended with an Ayurvedic powder, made from the dried roots of a plant called Calamus. The massage is given on a mattress on the floor. Depending on the recipient's condition, a combination of deep tissue massage techniques using the hands and the feet are used, followed by a series of yoga-based stretches. A carefully selected series of multi-purposes yoga-based stretches are employed in order to realign and adjust body posture, and increase breathing capacity, among others.
Ayurvedic Yoga Massage harmonizes the flow of vital energy (Prana) and brings a deep sense of stillness. The work induces deep breathing and promotes the circulation of the body’s fluids. It releases deep tension in the muscles, joint stiffness and other stresses both on the physical and the mental level.
The treatment brings a wide range of benefits to the recipient.
