ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Inspired by the Indian traditions of Ayurveda and Modern Postural Yoga, Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) combines deep tissue massage with oil and assisted yoga-based stretching in a single session. Developed by Indian master Kusum Modak in the early 1980s and influenced by her practice with BKS Iyengar, AYM is a contemporary all-in-one yoga bodywork supported by breathwork. It differs significantly from traditional Ayurvedic massage treatments by integrating the principles of yoga therapy — also known as yogasana therapy.

ARYM’s training programme provides a proven approach to mastering Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, with classes comprising 90% hands-on experience. Participants practice daily on each other, both giving and receiving massages. The training provides powerful massage and stretching techniques focusing on energy flow, conscious breathing, touch awareness, meditative approach, and body mechanics, to ensure a comfortable and pleasant experience. By the end of the course, participants can deliver confidently great treatments customised to individual needs.
During the course, you will learn to:
Provide a 60 to 90-minute AYM treatment.
Apply a wide range of massage techniques using your hands and feet, including deep tissue, stress relief, myofascial release, and relaxing massages, and perform an exceptional facial massage experience.
Perform over a hundred yoga-based assisted corrective stretches.
Be ready to start your AYM therapist career immediately upon course completion or offer treatments to your loved ones.
The first part (4 days) focuses more on the entire body massage, learning deep tissue massage techniques using hands and feet. It also provides a first series of assisted stretching and enables the performance of a short Ayurvedic yoga massage sequence to massage, mobilise, and stretch the full body.
The second part* (4 days) focuses on integrating the massage and a large series of assisted stretches, acquiring a flow while gaining confidence.
*It is highly advisable to complete both sections over 9 consecutive days, though Section 2 can also be taken during a later training session.

Ananta Sylvain Girard is the founder of ARYM — The Original Ayurvedic Yoga Massage (AYM) Training Center — with over three decades of experience in the practice. After collaborating for seven years with Master Kusum Modak, the creator of AYM, Ananta went on to play a pivotal role in spreading the method worldwide. Over these 30 years, he has conducted more than 420 therapist courses, certifying over 2,900 AYM practitioners. His teaching is grounded in two foundations: the original Kusum Modak method, and the Anatomy for Movement approach developed by his mentor Blandine Calais-Germain, which brings precision and depth to his understanding of body mechanics. How many courses do I need, and how long does it take, to become a professional?
Your first 56-hour therapist training (Levels 1–4) gives you the essential foundation to start practising Ayurvedic Yoga Massage professionally, and many AYM practitioners begin earning from this work shortly after. Around 5 to 20 post-training sessions are typically needed before you begin feeling confident practising on your own. Most practitioners continue with Level 5 to refine their technique, validate their skills, and improve fluidity. From there, occasional refresher courses with Ananta work well to maintain the purity, precision, and depth of the work. Some choose to repeat the 56-hour course to deepen their understanding, or to enter the instructor programme. As a general guide, around 200+ hours of training gives a strong level of AYM expertise. Full mastery, though, is a longer journey built through ongoing practice, continued learning, and real commitment. Honestly, a lifelong one.
