Our training is suited for everyone, including beginners and professionals of all levels. Moreover, the method presents a complementary and enriching practise for health professionals (doctors, physiotherapists, nurses, etc.) and wellness specialists (masseurs, yoga teachers, Pilates instructors, etc.), as well as anyone with a personal interest in massaging family and friends.

 

No prior experience of massage or Yoga is necessary. Our courses allow participants to discover and quickly learn the method of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage. In addition, students will gain self-confidence by learning the necessary skills to integrate the massage flow with a series of assisted yoga-based stretches. At the end of the training course, newly certified practitioners will have the ability to deliver a complete Ayurvedic Yoga Massage treatment.

The AYM Therapist Training

The AYM Therapist Training is 90% hands-on and 10% theory given in lecture form. The training also involves a home-study, plus a post-training practice period. The therapist program is composed of 3 stages:
1. AYM Certified Practitioner: 56 hours
2. AYM Therapist Diploma: 56 hours
3. AYM Refresher Course: 21 hours

After completing the first 56-hour course, the newly Certified Practitioner will be capable of delivering a tailor-made Ayurvedic Yoga Massage treatment..

To be an AYM Practitioner

Duration: 56 hours in 8 or 12 days
Pre-requisite: The program is open to everyone.
Program: The class comprises the hands-on practice of the massage sequences and stretches always preceded by the necessary demonstrations. Feedbacks on the practice are enriched by specific theoretical deepening. More than 100 assisted stretching (passive yoga stretches) and dozens of massage techniques (performed with hands, fists, elbows, feet, knees) are demonstrated. Anatomy, physiology and occupational health and safety, hygiene, infection control are given in lecture form. The AYM Certified Practitioner is awarded after passing a skills assessment. The training is delivered as follow:

  • Module I (Practical fundamentals of the AYM Method): the back of the body (back, arms, shoulder blades, shoulders, neck and back of the legs). Massage with hands and feet and a series of stretches for the back.
  • Module II: back review, the front of the body (legs, abdomen, thorax, neck and face) and a series of stretches, including legs and sitting stretches.
  • Module III: advanced stretches.
  • Module IV: the integration of the complete massage and other advanced stretches. An assessment of individual skills is made on the last day (clinic day).
  • Post Training Practice: 20 treatments (30 hours) and their report via the Massage Clinic Treatment Logbook

Certification: AYM Certified Practitioner I-IV

Validation of knowledge

Duration: 56 hours in 8 or 12 days.
Pre-requisite: AYM Certified Practitioner.
Program: The diploma course involves the review, reinforcement and validation of all the material learned in the AYM Certified Practitioner training. It introduced new massage techniques and series of assisted stretches. The AYM Therapist Diploma is awarded after passing a skills assessment.
Certification: AYM Therapist Diploma V

Review and deepening

Duration: 3 to 5 days (21 hours).
Pre-requisite: The workshop is open to AYM Certified/Diploma therapists
Program: This is an opportunity for already certified/diploma AYM therapists to: (1) refine their massage skills, (2) learn new stretches, and (3) get personal feedback.
The refresher course puts into practice and integrates the material covered in the AYM Therapist Training. Participants will join the ongoing Therapist Training (usually on the last days), allowing them to practice and review specific stretches and massage techniques. In this session, participants will provide and receive a complete massage treatment under Ananta’s supervision.

Some key items focused on, include: flow of massage, timekeeping, choice and sequence of stretches to meet client needs; review, refinement and learning new techniques and Q&A. These practitioner meetings also help to create a stronger community of AYM therapists.

The AYM instructor training

The AYM Instructor Diploma is composed of 3 stages: Assistant, Certified and Instructor Diploma. Following the first stage, the newly Authorized Instructors (assistant) will be able to facilitate the Introduction to AYM Therapy on their own.
Duration: 56, 112, 168 and up to 350+ hours.
Prerequisite: AYM Therapist diploma, plus substantial practice of the Ayurvedic Yoga Massage.

Assistantship

The instructor trainee offers the opportunity to become Ananta’s assistant over one or several Therapist Training courses. In addition, the assistant will learn how to become a teacher by helping to facilitate the AYM training program.

Certification: Instructor Trainee; Certificate of participation.

Transmission of the AYM method

The Instructor Certificate, together with an assistantship period, teaches to become an instructor.
The program gives all the necessary tools and brings confidence to facilitate the transition. This courses is taught in 3 parts. Parts 1 and 2 can be taken separately and in any order. Part 3 can only be taken after one starts teaching his own classes.

Duration: 108 hours (3 parts of 5 or 7 days each).
Pre-requisite: AYM Therapist Diploma, plus a good experience as an Ayurvedic Yoga Massage practitioner.
Program: Training includes practise and theory –

  • Learning module transitions
  • Educational framework and scenarios
  • Practice and positioning analysis
  • Anatomy, physiology and pathology
  • Professional ethics
  • The practise of Yoga and active meditations
  • Planning one’s career development

Certification: AYM Certified Instructor V; after successful completion of the 3 parts

Internship – Mentoring a small group of students of the Institute

Duration: 180+ hours
Pre-requisite: AYM Certified Instructor
Program: A post-internship personal work that will –

  • Act as liaison between the group and the Institute
  • Support of a group of students from the ARYM Institute in their career as practitioners
  • Follow-up of the student reports
  • Enhance practical experience

The Masterclass Series

Understand and integrate to optimise your practice

The Masterclass series offers several topics to explore to optimise one’s practice. In addition, each masterclass teaches a good foundation knowledge on anatomy, physiology and pathology.
Masterclass pedagogy uses various approaches: studies of anatomical sketches, colouring, modelling, multi-sensory exercises, palpation, etc. Masterclasses can be taken individually or in any order that suits one’s needs.

Duration: 15 to 24 hours per module
Prerequisite: Open to everyone
Program: These CPD courses offer an operational basis knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology.

Personal safety for bodyworkers practising on the floor

Program: AYM therapists, professional bodyworkers, yoga instructors Program: Each Self-Care Masterclass contributes to acquiring the necessary theoretical basis and the hands-on knowledge needed for a protective practice on the floor (Thai massage, Shiatsu, yoga, Pilates, etc.). These aim to provide a spotlight on:

  • a specific body area
  • giving a basic knowledge in anatomy and physiology
  • offering an overview of practitioners and clients frequently encountered pathologies
  • reviewing relevant massage and stretching techniques during related practices
  • additional topics related to therapist’s professional development are also covered

How the training courses work

 

  1. Using correct position in order to perform a precise and safe treatment.
  2. Learning how to give an practical session, using deep tissue massage techniques with hands and feet, along with assisted yoga-based stretches.
  3. Understanding manoeuvres and their contraindications to avoid injury

The Therapist Training is 90% practical and centred around instructor demonstrations, student practice, and feedback. This interactive learning allows students to experience the benefits of the treatment firsthand and quickly correct mistakes to learn each technique correctly. One will:

  • Be able to deliver a complete treatment using deep tissue massage techniques with hands and feet.
  • Learn to perform series of assisted yoga-based stretches.
  • Avoid injury using correct positioning.
  • Understand indications and contra-indications for each technique.
  • Apply the principles of the ARYM Institute integrated approach of Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, based on the method Anatomy for Movement™.
  • Obtain business advice on building clientele and managing a massage practice based on 25+ years of experience.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to best practices of the method.
  • Demonstration of new techniques with sufficient time for students to practice and receive them.
  • A review of the prior techniques learnt.
  • Brief meditation at the start of each class and several relaxations during the day to help focus and bring a sense of centring.
  • Q&A with the instructor.

Following session tests, certificates or diplomas are awarded at the end of the training.

AYM Certified Practitioner (I-IV): Certificate for first-time participants.
AYM Therapist Diploma (V): Diploma for AYM Practitioners already certified by ARYM.
AYM Refresher course: Certificate of competency.

INSTRUCTOR TRAINING
